What a prefab fireplace repair involves in Lake Monroe
Patching a panel or replacing it
Refractory patching cement is meant for a panel that is still in one piece. The IHP guide is direct about it. The panel must be whole to patch. A panel that has broken through, lost a corner or shows its wire mesh has gone past that point, and the fix is a new panel from the manufacturer.

Where a prefab chimney passes through a ceiling or floor, a firestop spacer holds the framing back at the clearance the pipe was tested with. Missing or bent firestops turn up after ceiling repairs and attic work. In the IHP design the metal chimney ends in a screened termination cap. Florida Building Code sections R1004.3 and R1005.2 keep decorative shrouds off the top of these chimneys unless the shroud carries its own listing and label for that exact chimney system and is fitted as the maker's instructions direct.
A rusted cap, a clogged spark screen or a shroud added for looks can all change how the fireplace draws. Refacing around a prefab fireplace
New tile or stone around a factory-built fireplace has to follow the unit's rules. One Superior manual lets drywall and other combustibles meet the sides and top of the face but not overlap it, lets brick, glass, tile or other noncombustible materials overlap only where they leave louvered slots and other openings clear, and calls for noncombustible mortar or adhesive.
