Cleaning comes after the leak is fixed and the brick has dried, otherwise the deposits return. Most efflorescence brushes off dry or with water and a stiff fiber brush. Stronger cleaners get tested on a hidden spot first and used exactly as the maker directs, because a harsh wash can stain brick and etch the joints.
