How we install chimney liners in Goldsboro

Liners for gas appliances
Gas appliance venting is sized under NFPA 54 and the appliance maker's instructions. Burning gas produces water vapor, so a liner that is too large or too cold can collect condensation.
Some gas appliance listings allow aluminum liners, while others call for stainless steel. We follow the specific appliance's instructions, and when those instructions call for a model-specific vent kit, we explain that instead of offering a generic liner. The appliance model and its vent instructions are confirmed on site before any liner for a gas appliance is priced.
Height of the liner at the top
A chimney has to clear its roof. The Florida Building Code puts the top at least 3 feet above the point where the chimney passes through the roof, and no part of the building within 10 feet may reach higher than 2 feet below that top.
A liner's termination follows the chimney top, so we check the height before relining. Where the chimney falls short, a listed extension or another change is discussed as part of the plan rather than left for later. The height is taken with a measurement at the roof, never estimated from the ground.
How insulation is fitted
Insulation wrap is fitted around the liner before it goes into the flue. One maker's instructions describe a foil-faced blanket held with stainless steel mesh, stopped short of the crown so the liner can expand as it heats.
Fitted this way, the insulation stays in place during the pull and once installed. We check that the wrapped liner still passes the route test before the final installation. Insulation that bunches or slips during the pull can leave gaps, so the wrap is secured along its full length.
Checking the draft after installation
Once the liner is connected, the appliance is operated as its instructions allow and the draft is observed at the connection. A liner sized and installed correctly should carry the exhaust up and out.
If the appliance itself shows a problem unrelated to the liner, we tell you and explain who services that model. The relining is finished only when the system works as installed. You see the connection and the top of the system before the job is signed off.
