The manual decides the installation
Every electric fireplace comes with an installation manual, and that manual sets what the unit allows. It covers the mounting options, the size of any opening, the power connection and the space around the heater. Two units that look alike on a product page can have very different requirements behind the glass.
Our installers read the manual for your exact model before the visit and plan from it. We do not borrow dimensions from a similar unit or assume that a newer version follows the same rules. If the manual is missing, we find the current edition from the maker before work starts.
A grounded outlet of the right type
One maker's plug-in firebox manual calls for a properly grounded outlet of the same configuration as the plug, with no adapter and no change to the plug itself. A two-prong outlet or a loose receptacle does not meet that instruction.
Our team checks the outlet the unit will use before mounting anything. If the outlet is the wrong type or shows wear, we note it in the estimate, and an electrician replaces it before the fireplace is connected. The unit goes in only when the outlet matches its manual.
Finish materials around the unit
Tile, stone or trim around an electric fireplace should frame it without blocking its airflow. One maker limits any decorative finish that overhangs the unit to half an inch, so heated air can leave the outlet freely. The same rule applies whether the surround is stone, tile or wood trim.
We share the manual's finish limits with you and with any tile setter or carpenter before they start. A handsome surround that covers the heater outlet would have to come off again, and nobody wants to pay for the same wall twice.
Handling the unit with care
Larger electric fireplaces are heavy and awkward to carry, and one manual says two people are needed for some installation steps. The same maker asks that the front glass stay in its box until installation and that the unit be stored dry and free of dust.
We bring enough hands for the size of the unit, protect your floors and walls along the route and keep the glass packed until the dusty work is finished. At the end of each day we clean up and haul the packaging and debris away.
