If the animal gets into the house
Close interior doors to confine the animal to one room, open an outside door or window in that room if you can do so safely, and leave. Do not corner or try to catch it.
If it stays, call local animal control. The Florida Department of Health advises avoiding direct contact with wildlife and consulting a healthcare provider after any possible contact. The months that suit capping best
Two calendars shape when a chimney can be closed. Swifts leave in August or September and return in March or April, and Florida prohibits bat exclusion from April 16 through August 14. The late fall and winter months fall outside both. Planning around them avoids a cap going on at the wrong moment.

Animals inside a framed chase
On a factory-built fireplace, an animal may be inside the framed chase around the chimney pipe instead of inside the pipe itself. It usually gets in through a rusted chase cover or a gap where the cover meets the siding.
