Steps in a chimney liner installation
The relining plan is explained on site, and a same-day inspection in Casselberry is possible when the schedule allows.
Structural repairs come first
A liner does not hold a chimney together. Missing, loose or cracked masonry and open joints need repair before a liner is installed, as one maker's instructions state.
While the liner is being planned, the chimney structure is inspected, and you learn which repairs have to come first. Each repair is priced separately, so you can see the relining cost and the masonry cost on their own lines and plan them in the right order. Relining over a structural problem would leave the new system inside a chimney that still needs work, and the liner might have to come out again when that work is done.
One path for each appliance
The arrangement of a liner depends on the type, number and location of the appliances using the chimney, as one maker's instructions state. Two appliances are not joined into one liner unless their instructions and the code allow it.
We identify every appliance connected to the chimney before planning, including any that are rarely used. Each one gets a venting plan that suits its instructions, written into the estimate. Where the chimney holds only one usable flue for two appliances, we explain what each maker allows and which options remain.
Care after the liner is installed
A new liner still needs inspection and cleaning. NFPA advises having chimneys inspected every year, and a liner is inspected and swept with methods that suit its material.
We leave you the cleaning guidance for the installed system and explain which brushes and methods its maker allows. Future service can then follow the same instructions the installation did. A yearly visit also confirms that the cap, the top plate and the bottom connection are still sound.
When a liner is not the answer
Relining restores a passage inside a sound chimney. It does not repair a leaning stack, a failed crown or loose exterior brick, and it is a different job from repairing the existing clay lining in place.
When the structure needs rebuilding or the existing lining only needs a local repair, we say so and explain that option instead. You get the recommendation that suits the chimney, not the one that sells the largest job. When more than one approach could work, each is priced separately so you can compare them.
