The brick look inside a factory-built firebox is often a set of molded panels rather than bricks laid one at a time. The IHP guide describes its refractory as a high-quality cement mixture reinforced with wire mesh, lining the back, sides and bottom of a heavy-gauge steel firebox. Every fire heats and cools those panels, and that movement is where cracks begin.

Its warranty notes that fuels such as coal, plywood and binder products may burn at excessive temperatures and damage the unit.
