The manual decides the installation
Every electric fireplace comes with an installation manual, and that manual sets what the unit allows. It covers the mounting options, the size of any opening, the power connection and the space around the heater. Two units that look alike on a product page can have very different requirements behind the glass.
Our installers read the manual for your exact model before the visit and plan from it. We do not borrow dimensions from a similar unit or assume that a newer version follows the same rules. If the manual is missing, we find the current edition from the maker before work starts.
Reading the rating label
The rating label lists the model, the voltage and the power the unit draws. On one linear model the label sits on top of the unit, which is why it should be read before the unit disappears into the wall. Those numbers decide the outlet, the circuit and whether the model suits the supply you have.
We copy the label details into the estimate and into the written record of the installation. If a question comes up later about the circuit or a replacement part, the numbers are already on paper and nobody has to pull the unit out to find them.
Indoor units stay indoors
Both manuals we reference for this service say their units are not for outdoor use. Covered porches and patios still see blowing rain and damp air that indoor electronics are not built for.
If you want a flame outside, we check whether the model's maker rates it for that location. When it is not rated, we recommend keeping it inside and help you find the spot where the family will enjoy it most. That keeps the unit inside its listing and the warranty paperwork straightforward.
Flame without heat
Some owners want an electric fireplace mostly for the look. On the linear line we reference, the flame effect switches separately from the heater, and a hardware kit can disconnect the heater and its fan permanently. Running the flame alone draws far less power than running the heater.
